Matt's Match gives £5.5k boost to Disney
Funds raised by the county’s high profile Matt’s Match campaign have been used to buy vital new equipment for Disney Ward.
Matt’s Match was launched in 2009 by friends and family of Northampton teenager Matt Herbert, who had been diagnosed with leukaemia and needed an urgent bone marrow transplant to survive. Matt has now had his transplant, and the campaign launched in his honour continues to make a huge impact – with Matt presenting a cheque for £5,500 to the hospital to fund a Vital Signs Monitor for poorly children on Disney Ward.
Matt Herbert, a frequent visitor to Disney Ward over the last couple of years, said: “It was an honour to present the cheque to the Sister and nurses on Disney Ward. These ladies have nursed me since diagnosis and I am pleased that all the kindness of people donating money to Matt’s Match means that they can now buy a very special, and much needed, piece of equipment that will hopefully make their job easier and the patients stay more comfortable.”
Ward Sister Joy Margetts added: “On behalf of all the staff on Disney Ward a huge thank you to all involved with Matt’s Match fund raising events.”
